The project consists in a 3D interactive simulation of a drilling plant for oil extraction located in the desert. The application enables the user to explore the industrial plant in immersive mode and interactive way.
The project is an application of the 3D graphic motors technology aiming at creating accurate simulations of industrial plants, as illustrated by well drilling for the oil industry. The rig’s technical aspects have been managed by Egisto Mannini, a wellsite geologist with a substantial expertise in the oil field, also part of our team.
The model is navigable and can be explored throughout from any viewpoint. Special care has been devoted to the implementation of realistic ambient effects: wind, dust, smoke emissions, heat release, sound and noise, reflections of the light. According to the needs, also the location, the daytime, the weather conditions and the different seasons can be programmed with absolute realism. By clicking on the components and the avatars, an informative interface is visualized. In the present case it is a textual one, but it can be customized for including images, texts, videos, sounds, as well as links to external documents.
Projects of this kind are also valuable for visualizing and investigating in detail any component of technical equipments. The inclusion of a virtual reality visualization interface, as well as the virtual manipulation through motion detection devices is also feasible.
